It was a bright and windy day - not too windy, however, to stop Tienlyn from wearing a small and airy little white scallop lace dress.
When shooting this look, bringing out the lovely details of this dress was key for me. So coming across this simple blue background provided us with the perfect location to highlight all the aspects of the look that we loved so much.
My intention was to create a slight depth of field between her and the background, so that the blue wall would become the softer element in the photo, providing complementary contrast to her skin and details of the look.
I achieved this by using selective focus, which brings attention to something specific in a cluttered setting – a perfect technique for cleaning up a busy scenario or in this case, highlighting those exact elements that first inspired you to shoot.
